Fans travelling to the Ed Sheeran concert in Bath will have to find an alternative route as the M4 is closed after a serious crash.

Gwent Police have advised motorist to find alternative ways as the eastbound carriageway is closed between Newport and Cardiff.

The westbound carriageway is moving very slowly from the Severn Crossing to Newport.

Today is the first of the four concerts Ed Sheeran will be performing at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and while the gates are already open, he is not expected on stage until 8.45pm.

This could make it quite tight for anyone still travelling to the event as the motorway has been closed completely to allow for the air ambulance to land.

Gwent Police have since put out an appeal saying: "Gwent Police are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the M4 Junction J29 Eastbound. The road is currently closed for investigation. There is a diversion in place at M4 J30. Westbound carriageways are now open and traffic is flowing.

"Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 358 21/6/18. This appeal includes the request for dash cam footage prior to the incident and at the time."
